Wig Begone

Charles Courtley, a newly qualified lawyer without a penny to his name, plunges into the sometimes archaic world of the British legal system. After a stroke of beginners' luck - and a taste of good living - he soon becomes an established practitioner  in the criminal courts, including conducting military court-martials in Germany where troops are stationed. Horror of horrors, on one occasion he even ends up appearing in a commercial court, a territory as alien to him as Mars! There are all the usual problems of getting paid, not to mention dealing with a dead lawyer who still seems to be operating from the shadows of East London. Then there is the dog whose evidence is judged to be sound, and even an excursion to the ‘wrong’ side of the Berlin Wall for a night out.
